There is a reason I have always said the Bay Area Music Scene was better than the Hollywood Music Scene back in the day, Hollywood was made of mostly phonies as Bruce Dickinson song Tattoo Millionaire speaks of, the reason I feel the Bay Area Scene was at the least more Organic and Real and in part it had to do with Wolfgang a.k.a. Bill Graham, who I got to meet several times before he died, the last time was back stage at Motley Crues Doctor Feel Good show at the ARCO Arena and Bill flew away in his helicopter in a rain storm as I watched I thought he was was pretty brave! Not long after Bill was leaving a Huey Lewis Show at the Concord Pavilion and his helicopter crashed near Vallejo... Now everything in the concert industry changed after his death, Bill Graham for good or for bad had a soul and knew how to make a Concert Goer Happy, Tail Gate Parties, fair ticket pricing, and hospitality, once he had died and Bill Graham Presents was sold and resold and Clear Channel or what ever Corporation wound up with his market share, the humanity of the concert in Norther California DIED! no more tail gating, ticket prices rose over 75% and hospitality was gone! Bill being a human kept his business REAL but once the he died the concert industry went to hell and had a Wal Mart greeter at the gates! R.I.P. Wolfgang.
