There is absolutely no proof that 1 to 3 percent of California teachers are grossly incompetent. None, zero proof, and this is a made up figure used to strike down due legal process for teachers. The figure is not a fact, but an off the cuff guess. Judge Rolf Treu calculates with false variables, and believes many foolish lies about education. Tenure, for example, is just due process and its also not true that bad teachers cant be fired. Tenure was established in 1907 to attract college graduates to a poorly paid profession. Student test scores are not an indication of excellent teaching. Testing is simply a tool used by good teachers to teach better. In truth, grossly incompetent teachers are hard to find. The job is simply too difficult for lazy people. Just go stand in a room full of 13 year olds. True , that Treu likely would last an hour in a classroom. Few indeed are those who can bring a class to order, almost no one lasts who cant then teach a lesson. Incompetent teachers are fired by students who drive them from the temple of learning--quickly. We should do this in law. Seems if one is looking for lazy incompetence, it can be found in the Los Angeles Superior Courtroom of Judge Rolf Treu.
