There is an exciting and potentially fantastic (and a potential game changer for adaptive reuse in West Hollywood) new project making its way through committees right now- The San Vicente Inn at 845 N San Vicente Blvd (near Santa Monica Blvd) is an official Local Cultural Resource. The buildings that make up the inn are some of the oldest in West Hollywood (built as housing for Moses Shermans railroad workers) Originally Clark Street (named after Shermans partner E.P. Clark), San Vicente Blvd was one of the 5 original streets of Sherman (West Hollywood). Jeff Klein, the Inns new owner, is currently going through the process to be able to expand and update the Inn. Architect Marc Appleton is to lead the project and Robert Chattle is the project’s historic preservation consultant. (Apparently great people to have involved in this kind of project.) The project has been approved by the Historic Preservation Commission and will go in front of the Design Review Subcommittee this Thursday (Nov 13) at 5:30pm.
