There is and will never be any comparison between police violence - TopicsExpress

There is and will never be any comparison between police violence against Blacks and violence in Black communities. Though both issues should and are of concern, they are distinctly different. The uproar and dissatisfaction with DiBlasio and other government figures saying that they have to have the talk with their sons is another example of disregarding an issue because it makes you uncomfortable. Bottom line, Blacks are always approached, addressed and dealt with in a hostile manner, as if proven guilty because society has been conditioned to believe and expect Black people to be naturally angry, violent and criminal. So any and all encounters with police heightens the chance that it may end with a trip to the hospital or the morgue. This is and should be troubling because the police are who we all should go to for protection, and de-escalation of tense situations. We should not expect or be in fear of them acting like the trigger happy, hothead thugs that we all need protection from. Look, the truth hurts and stats dont lie. Black people are more likely to be killed or brutalized by police than white people, under the same circumstances. Just like theres a lot of crime and killing in Black communities, the stats are pretty much the same in White communities, yet you never hear about that because it doesnt feed into the scare tactic of the violent, angry vicious Blacks. The talk unfortunately, is still very necessary because as we have seen recently, police are above the law and can execute and brutalize without accountability.
