There is just no escaping the permanent irritation that is this country. I am now convinced that money you dont work for and didnt make, money that gets allocated to you while you sit on your butt and do nothing begat sina (misplaced spending, pronounced shina), sina begat apa (wastefulness bordering on lunacy), apa begat Nigeria. If you make that money from your sweat and resources and youre competing against those buying Ipads with preprogrammed curriculum and books for schoolkids and building 21st century infrastructure with their own money in a true Federal system, youd be a very prudent spender and a wiser determiner of priorities and I wont have to be reading stuff about a stupid Committee on Mass Wedding paying mass bride price in the 21st century: ================================================== The Gombe State Government Committee on Mass Wedding said it disbursed N14.4 million in dowries, foodstuff, furniture, and other items to 720 couples in the state. Garba Abdu, Secretary to the Committee, said on Monday in Gombe that each of the beneficiaries collected N20,000 as dowry as well as other items. We have disbursed N20,000 as dowry to each of the 720 couples; as well as mattresses, furniture, carpets, pots, dishes and cups. The committee also gave them foodstuff like rice, maize, salt, vegetable oil, palm oil, spices, Spaghetti among others (Premium Times) ================================================= Because of the security situation in the country, evidenced so tragically by the Abuja bombing today, somebody should tell the sina and apa Government in Gombe to spend any excess cash they receive from that common purse in Abuja on providing reinforced security for the common man, the Federal government having completely collapsed in the area of security. All their internally generated revenue can then go to mass weddings and bride price.
