There is many people who are Christians who are almost frantic about what is going on in their lives, and what is going to happen the next day. Some are worried about their jobs, some about their families, some about their finances, some about their health, some about the church they attend, and some about the future. They wonder what the future holds for them, where they will live, who they will marry, where they will work, or where they will go to a place of higher learning. They seem to forget that the day they accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord AND Savior, that He has their lives all figured out! He already knows what is going to transpire in each of our lives, the timing of events, and the end result of the decisions that we make. If we truly have surrendered our hearts and lives to Him, then we ought be able to rely on Him. If we rely on Him, then there is NO NEED to fret and stew over what is going to happen tomorrow! Lets take a look at a couple of Bible verses. Hebrews 4:3, for a starter. “For we which have believed do enter onto REST, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, IF they shall enter into MY REST: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.” When we became Christians we entered into His rest. Do you remember that moment right after you confessed your sins and asked Jesus to save you? Do you remember how peaceful it was, in the inner man? Do you remember the next day when you woke up, that there was a calmness and a serenity about your life? I would dare to venture that you had NO concerns about what would happen that day. There was a total REST in your mind, wasnt there? Well, that is the state of mind we ought to have everyday, no matter the external circumstances that we face. To REST means to repose, to lie back, to relax, to be at ease or leisure. We can RELAX, be anxious for NOTHING, because our lives are hid in Jesus Christ. What need is there to fear, to worry, and fret? Does all your turmoil of mind change anything? NO! RELAX, REST in Him, He is well aware of what is happening in your life, so there is no need to be rushing about, trying to work things out yourself with your own efforts. Hebrews 4:9 tells us this: “There remaineth therefore a REST for to the people of God.” When Jesus became our Master, when we turned our lives over to Him, we entered into HIS REST. IF you are NOT a child of God, then in the natural order of things, there is no peace, there is NO REST from the cares and concerns of this world. There is always something going wrong, there is always something to cause turmoil and strife and confusion. There was a song many years ago that a group sang, I cant remember right now who, that sang, When Will We Ever Learn?” Isnt that the theme song of the non~believer, or maybe even some Christians? What does it take for us to understand and realize that God is working out His agenda for our lives, and that we can relax, and REST in Him? I think it really grieves Him that we get all torn up over the circumstances of our lives, and we fail to keep our eyes fastened on Him. Your circumstances will CHANGE, in due time. God NEVER CHANGES! I adjure you to fix your eyes on Him, REST in Him, because sooner or later He is going to get all the glory and honor and praise for His perfect plan for us. GBU, SAINTS!
