There is possibility of light to moderate rainfall at many places across the State on 7th/ 8th October. Please protect such items that may have been kept in the open for sun drying, so that the items are not damaged further. Chief Engineer I&FC should have, by now, plugged the numerous breaches, on the bund of river Jhelum. In fact, I observed in my locality, that some breach have been plugged, but without any consolidation, thereby making these locations highly vulnerable to breach without warning. Though the matter has been brought to the notice of Flood Control Deptt, but no action has been taken. There is a massive breach near Radio Kashmir and UEED office on the bund, which is being earth-filled by IFC deptt, but I havent seen any Roller being used for consolidation. Maybe the labors may have manually leveled and rammed the earth. But that is not enough to stop a flood !!!! ( Aamir Ali)
