There is scientific proof that students will remember better if their curiosity is peeked by a fun fact relating to the topic. Real life examples usually do the trick for my learners! cs.uni.edu/~wallingf/blog/archives/monthly/2014-10.html#e2014-10-30T15_11_46.htm This study suggests that when people are curious about something, they remember better what they learn about it, but they also remember better other information they come into contact with at the same time.
