Following a successful WEVA Intermediate Meeting held two years ago in Hungary (Debrecen), the WEVA board decided to bring its biennial world congress to Hungary. It is a great honour for our associations that WEVA has entrusted us again, and we are dedicated to organizing an event that would be a memorable highlight in the history of WEVA congresses. We cordially invite you to the 13th WEVA Congress, which will be held between 3rd and 5th October, 2013 in the Budapest Congress Centre, to share and exchange experiences with colleagues from around the world. The venue is one of the most professional conference centers in Budapest. This beautiful city is also an ideal base for travelling before or after the meeting. The scientific meeting with excellent invited speakers, abstract presentations and a poster exhibition will take place from Thursday till Saturday. The program will give a global update on the latest issues and findings of the field focusing on internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, parasitology, obstetrics, reproduction, neurology, anaesthesia, genetics, X-ray and other diagnostic imaging, dentistry, current epidemiology, alternative medicine, etc. You will also have the chance to visit the industrial exhibition and connect with exhibitors and sponsors. You will enjoy the social program: during the Welcome reception on Thursday evening you have the chance to meet new and old friends, exchange ideas and network with colleagues and industry and enjoy the Hungarian folk dance and music. Information about the invited lecturers and the scientific program will be continuously shared on our website. If you are interested in holding an oral and/or a poster presentation, please contact the WEVA 2013 Congress Secretariat at [email protected]. We are looking forward to meeting you at the Congress, and would very much appreciate if you could spread the information among your colleagues about the upcoming 13th WEVA Congress. Zita Makra President Hungarian Association of Equine Practitioners István Szieberth President World Organization of Hungarian Veterinarians WEVA Intermediate Meeting, 2010, Debrecen WEVA, HAEP, WOHV and BEVA representatives: from left to right - Istvan Szieberth, Josh Slater, Tim Greet, Istvan Soos, Gabor Bodo, Zita Makra and Gary Norwood WEVA Intermediate Meeting, 2010, Debrecen Message from the President I am absolutely delighted that the Hungarian Association of Equine Practitioners (HAEP) and The World Association of Hungarian Veterinarians (WAHV) have been selected to host the 13th Congress of the World Equine Veterinary Association in the historic city of Budapest. The association with WAHV is particularly gratifying as it allows for a greater involvement of equine veterinarians from eight neighbouring countries, located in the Carpathian Basin. The Budapest Congress Centre the venue for WEVA 2013 is a state of the art facility. With the professional help of the Blaguss Congress Bureau we expect all aspects of the Congress to be truly world class. The Congress Centre is attached to the Novotel Congress Hotel. However there will be a whole range of possible accommodation, the details of which will be made available in due course on weva2013budapest As per the norm with all previous WEVA Congresses the array of speakers will be top drawer. Dr. Kate Savage the Scientific Programme Chair with her fellow committee members are in the process of putting together a fascinating programme which will have great appeal to practitioners of various disciplines of equine medicine, surgery and reproduction. Besides the scientific programme the Congress will provide a unique opportunity to interact with our colleagues from different parts of the world. The social programs on these occasions are memorable to say the least and with Hungary once considered the "Gastronomic Capital of Europe", we can look forward to some delectable cuisine!! With its historic buildings, monuments and the beautiful "Danube", Budapest provides a vivid glimpse into ancient Europe. I greatly look forward to seeing you all there. Ravi Reddy
