There is something endearing about Cleethopes which brings back memories of bus trips, pop bottles, crisps and strips of tickets for the fun fair. Gone are the madding crowds and spent are the coins. There is no shortage of amusements but no sound of Ching Ching. There are sea gulls, mud flats and distant ships. Cafés by the dozens and hundreds of couples walking along the paved seaside paths. I love the little villages around Humberston with the small houses and smoking chimneys. Its well worth a visit if only to walk the length of the main path that runs the length of the front. Home for me this weekend is my sisters caravan, one of thousands at Thorpe Park. Sanctuary, bring it on !
