There is something that should worry rest of the nation- - TopicsExpress

There is something that should worry rest of the nation- democracy, justice and equality. I appeal to all those who perceive democracy as an entity of western origin- to realise that democracy is freedom and power of the people. Freedom is a natural need of the masses, leaders or corporation to self-determine. And for the masses, leaders or corporation to self-determine they need to be allowed to contribute, to be heard and to be recognised. As such democratic institutions, democratic laws and democratic processes are the means towards democratic realisation. Whether these institutions will administer democracy (freedom) for the masses, or representative leaders or corporation is always informed by the political-will of any or all above mentioned democratic beneficiaries. Now this discussion makes a submission that it is possible to administer democracy for a certain segment of society and democratically exclude a significant number or class of society. Libya, Venezuela and recently Zimbabwe are examples of states that had democratic institutions, democratic laws and democratic processes that were there purely to listen to the poor masses, recognise mass inputs and to all masses to contribute in shaping political, social and economic landscape of their nation. When elites and corporations are not favoured they use their money to flood media (national and international) with propaganda that seeks not to recognise those democracy (freedom). On contrary. media is paper thin on discrediting democracy on nations where democracy (freedom) favourers the leaders and corporations like South Africa, America, Middle-East etc. However, this thinking must be used to evaluate and improve our revolutionary mechanisms. We need to objectively ask ourselves difficult questions such as: 1. whether our revolutionary movements satisfactory listens to the voice of the poor masses and also of its constituency? 2. To what extent do our revolutionary movements recognise inputs from the masses (and their constituency)? 3. What kind of contribution from the masses and constituency? 4. Are masses (and/or constituency) significantly integrated on both decision-making level and on day to day revolutionary operation? We, all of us as Africans have the duty to monitor and evaluate the administration of democracy of our nations, state systems and revolutionary movements- in doing so we will control and arrest lack of taking responsibility, poor accountability and improper accumulation of power that unsustainably empower and eventually victimise the masses or/and constituency. We can not wait until those who see themselves superior to us give us back our power on silver plait- Masses must claim back their power- power belongs to the people, yes! we need to claim it back. #Asijiki, We are fearlessly defining and shaping the world debates. -Mandisi Mrwebi
