There must be a wake-up call in the history of every country... when you put your bullshit aside once and for all... all those too clever by half justifications... all that unnecessary belligerence against foes real and imagined, sometimes more imagined than real... all that needless to and fro exchange about what constitutes the word of God and what is not... who is the true follower and who isnt... who is a fundamentalist and who is a terrorist... Today, when an entire nation mourns the loss of its innocent children, I hope that mourning also extends to collective introspection amongst its politicians and the role of the State and its politicians in reining in elements which have been responsible for spreading this reign of terror. Qadri and Imran have not helped Pakistans cause one bit by strengthening the hands of fundamentalists through their dubious waffling and their opportunistic positions ever since the current regime got itself elected. This is a time for every sane person in Pakistan to support any and everyone who pledges to uproot these fundamentalist maniacs once and for all. And yes, this is most certainly not the time to blame America or the big bad western wolf, their historical shenanigans notwithstanding. That criticism has its time and place but not at the precarious precipice the country finds herself at right now. The need of the hour is save the majority practitioners of the faith (and every other faith or non-faith) from the cowardly barbarians who think God only whispers in their divine ears. This is a time to worry about Pakistan, and deeply so.
