There needs to be a revelation of honour that grips the church if we are going to see a unified move of God. Honour needs to be woven into how we react to people who believe in different doctrines. We need to honour people to the extent that we can differentiate them from the doctrine they believe. If someone believes doctrine that we deem as ‘bad’, that doesn’t make them a bad person. I’ve heard some leaders of the church say that they won’t even sit down beside another leader because they don’t agree with their doctrine. This form of stubbornness is probably one of the quickest ways to division and disunity within the church. We need to stop the accusations and need to begin to meet around Jesus instead of stumbling over each other’s secondary and tertiary doctrines. When we criticize and distance ourselves from people because of our differences, we are cutting off our ability to receive from God the gift that is them. Many of my close friends in ministry and I disagree on some of our secondary doctrines, but we never allow disrespect to creep into our relationships. We honour one another for who we are in Christ as we meet around Jesus who is perfect theology and our primary doctrine.
