There was NO food in the house this morning. Sooo... I made a trip to the farmers market in Charlotte and the grocery store with my bestie Joy (since 8yrs old). The market was *amazing*! Frankly, my eyes were bigger than my fridge. Dinner tonight was roasted Mystery Squash, bok-choy, roasted fennel, Italian loaf (drizzled in olive oil and Italian herbs), purple and yellow tomatoes (sliced and drizzled with chipotle olive oil and balsamic vinegar) with Thai basil ... and ... the MYSTERY HERB. Oh My Gosh! It was so good! The herb had a single bunch of green, tripartite leaves, on each narrow stalk that was the color of old venous blood (darker than chard). The stalks are *EXTREMELY* mucilaginous (dripping with a long stringy mucilaginous gunk when I tried to save them in a bowl of water). The leaves tasted as if they were close to (but not exactly) in the licorice family. Mixed great with Thai basil. Got any idea what it was???? Needless to say the Hubs tried everything *new* (meaning I hadnt cooked with it for a few years). He managed to not make faces, and finished *his* dinner of a grilled chicken breast, sauteed yellow squash and zucchini, both topped with Parmesan, and the bread. Le sigh...
