There was a developmental process in the early 70s that no longer exists today. Now, its either come out with a hit or die -Tommy Mottola, legendary record executive, Former Sony Music Chairman This in my opinion, is one of the reasons why there are very few music legends left. I realize the industry terrain has changed immensely, but execs back in the day (Ertegun, Ostin, Davis, you name it) had their ear to the street and acted on their intuition and not just merely a balance sheet. There will never be another Springsteen, a Zeppelin, or an Eagles again. Those days are gone.
