There was a very small mention (14 seconds) of Haemophilia on todays Jeremy Vine show on BBC Radio 2. The interview was about conditions which affect men and women differently. On the show Dr Sarah Jarvis said Although women can carry Haemophilia... No woman is directly, completely, affected by the full blown Haemophilia condition. bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04w4m8k (1:32:14) It seems as though Dr Jarvis is aware that there are women who have significant bleeding problems as a result of carrying Haemophilia but is finding it hard to make the distinction clear in plain language. What do you think? Is it time to drop the gender distinctions in Haemophilia and replace the term symptomatic carrier by just referring to women having moderate or mild Haemophilia?
