There will be more misery for the Branning family next month when Max is sent to jail over the crash that nearly kills Phil Mitchell. As we have previously revealed, Phil will be left fighting for his life after a dramatic car crash but in a sensational twist, we can exclusively confirm that Max will be arrested on suspicion of tampering with the brakes in the car. Cops gatecrash Jack Branning’s birthday bash to arrest Max in front of his daughters Lauren & Abi after receiving an anonymous tip off that he was to blame for the crash & things don’t look good for Max as the police soon realise he’s got motive. The car Phil was driving at the time of the crash was Carl White’s, who Max is currently at war with so they believe he deliberately wrecked the brakes to try & kill off Carl. It just happened that Phil got behind the wheel instead. A show insider said: "No one can believe it when Max is led away in handcuffs. It doesn’t look good for him because it was common knowledge that he was at war with Carl. The police think that he was going after Carl but nearly killed Phil when he drove the car instead. Could Max go down for attempted murder? Wait and see!"
