There will be pre-festival workshops this weekend for the Light Water Drums Festival, which takes place at Hastings Park on Jan. 24th. If you are interested in participating in pre-festival workshops this coming weekend (January 17/18, registration required) and for more event details please go here: lightwaterdrums.ca/?hq_e=el&hq_m=820557&hq_l=3&hq_v=5bc56d6b84 Here is more info on the festival: The LightWaterDrums Festival is an annual winter lantern festival hosted by the Hastings North Community Partners Group that celebrates the dark and wet of Vancouver winters and the joy of Hastings Park’s restored natural beauty. As its name suggests, the Festival combines the themes of “Light” using fire, lanterns, candles and installations in the Park that glow with light in the dark; “Water” which is the rain, pools, ponds and the underground stream running through the park; and “Drums”, the joyful noise of celebrations! This year taking place on: Saturday January 24, 2015 from 5:30- 9:00 pm Meet at the NE corner of Hastings and Renfrew at 5:30 pm for a welcoming celebration, followed by a music-filled lantern procession around Hastings Park Sanctuary. After completing the procession, there will be a mesmerizing fire performance by Radiant Heat and opportunity by to enjoy hot chocolate and popcorn. And to complete the night, join everyone in the Garden Auditorium for fun and interactive activities.
