“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.” – Isaiah 7:14 Since King Ahaz refused to ask for a sign (Is 7:11-12) the Lord chose His own sign, whose implementation would occur far beyond Ahaz’s lifetime. The sign was to be a boy named Immanuel. This prophecy reached forward to the virgin birth of the Messiah! The title applied to Jesus in Matthew 1:23. The boy’s name would assure the people of God’s presence. Immanuel, God with us! Today in the midst of uncertain days ahead we can draw comfort from the boy’s name as well! No matter what situation you find yourself in remember – God is still with us!
