Theres rural poor. Population is thin, no industry. Everybody is mostly doin their little bit and most everybody gets by. In order for those crops to be raised, state/county roads maintained, dikes or damns maintained, power grid maintained, whatever, somebodys gonna live there and do the stuff that needs to be done around there. Yeah, there needs to be various kinds of subsidy there. Then theres modern ghetto poor. If I get a job I sell out, lose all my free time, lose my benefits, have to behave in a respectable way in public and lose all my cred with my friends. Are there rural poor in the second group? Yep. Are there ghetto poor in the first group? Yep. But theres reasons for stereotypes. Yeah, in the ghettos, its the subsidies that create the problems.
