These are my boys - Shiloh (AKA Dublin) was rescued by Lisa - TopicsExpress

These are my boys - Shiloh (AKA Dublin) was rescued by Lisa HelpingHearts Post in March of 2010 (ironically, right around my OTTBs 27th birthday). I had seen his picture on Camelot Weeklys page at the time of the auction but my horse, Laz, was old and not well. I told my boyfriend (now hes my husband), if I had way of knowing how long my old boy would live (and how much the associated cost of vet bills that seniors tend to accumulate would be) - and whether I could afford it, Id scoop this boy up - he really spoke to my heart when I saw him. Fast forward six weeks or so… Laz passed away in the middle of the night on May 1st. I was devastated - wed been a team for over 20 years. He, himself, was a rescue… dumped at a farm by his trainer, left in a filthy stall with little food or water (kindly donated by the boarders who shared their own horses feed) he was a walking skeleton when I found him. I swore to him that hed never have to worry about food another day for the rest of his life and I kept that promise. But his passing left such a huge, gaping hole in my heart - I felt lost… And now for some serendipity… Just about that time, Lisa from HelpingHearts posted Dublin/Shilohs pictures on her site - he had been gelded, cleaned up and was ready for a new home… I almost jumped out of my skin!!! Im pretty sure I SCREAMED at Pete to come see the horse on the computer screen… Its HIM - the colt from the sale a few weeks ago!!! My crushed heart soared with happiness when I saw him - I immediately contacted Lisa, filled out the adoption papers, paced, worried, paced, prayed and… the rest, as they say, is history :) Thanks to Lisa, we were also able to obtain Taíno from a private party who was trying to avoid going the Camelot auction route. Both horses are amazing - such sweet in your pocket personalities, willingness to learn, easy to work with - we couldnt ask for better :) Weve slacked a bit in our training due to buying a new house/farmette (for them) and getting married (for us… LOL) and finally selling out old house, but were getting back in the groove and will be hitting the trails come spring time! Thank you Camelot Auctions for working with, and helping out, all of these good people who labored every single week, regardless of the weather, to keep so many wonderful horses out of the pipeline. Pete and I truly cant imagine life without our boys - we will be forever grateful.
