These are my husband Ohanns mother and father right before they - TopicsExpress

These are my husband Ohanns mother and father right before they were married in the early 1940s. Both of them lost almost their entire family in the Armenian Genocide in 1914. Avedis, Ohanns father, as a boy, survived unimaginable hardships trying to survive after his village was raided and almost every Armenian citizen either murdered or forced to leave on a march to nowhere which killed millions from starvation, exhaustion, and the elements. It was the last day he saw his mother, father, grandparents, sister, aunts and uncles. Miraculously, he and his two brothers managed to survive and eventually, Avedis made it to Istanbul, where he met and married Mari, another survivor, and began his family. Any time anyone tries to tell me that this never happened, I tell them Avedis story.
