These are my personal rules: No.1: Don’t wait with doing things, do TODAY what can be done, don’t wait for tomorrow! No.2: Be a good listener; understand your staff and their needs. No.3: Never complain about the company, other HOD’s or a specific staff member in front of your staff, it simply will bounce back one day! No.4: When something goes wrong in your department, don’t blame your staff, YOU are the responsible one, not your staff, so if thing are not done it is YOUR fault! No.5: As a HOD you have to show what it takes to have the job done, you simply have to work harder than others. No.6: While executing your power, avoid saying GM told, or AGM told. It has to be YOU telling your staff what to do. If you are just a messenger no one takes you seriously? No.8: Always put the company’s interests first, you are paid for that! No.9: Everyone needs a leader, be one! No10. Remember, you have to run your department, don’t let the department run you!
