These are the things that I learned in the month of August from other peoples mistakes: 1) Dont go to the Middle East as a free lance reporter looking for fame and fortune. No one in the so called news industry reports news anyways, and it wont work out to well for you and your family. 2) The US Government has no obligation to bail your ass out while you are over in the war torn area of the Middle East freelancing. You are just putting others at risk if you feel you or your loved ones are entitled to such priviledges. 3) Dont punch a cop when you are being arrested for being a dumbass, whether you are armed or not, black or white. It wont work out well for you. But many folks will get some camera time and some money if you are black. They will show up at rallies and news conferences, even if they were never there to help bring you up correctly and straighten your ass out. 4) Dont be a pallbearer at a terrorist funeral procession for a suicide bomber that was shot dead before he was able to detonate. And the folks that put him in the coffin didnt disarm the explosive. Yelling Allah Akbar will not keep you and all the morons around you from turning into spaghetti when it goes off. 4) Dont show up for work hammered if you are in the transportation industry. As the Orange County bus driver just found out, its not smart to do. Many of the lessons fell upon deaf ears, though. There are many untrainable folks out there. Our country is that of no consequences for dumb ass behavior. Thanks to the lawyers, pandering politicians and folks like Reverend Al Sharpton.
