These call duckling are very very lucky to be here. Mum duck sat on 6 eggs for a few days then abandoned them. I collected them and put them in the incubator after a few days a hen went clucky so i put them out under her. She sat on them for a two weeks and one morning i went to check and the hen was dying and the eggs were cold. I put the eggs back in the incubator for the day when another hen went clucky. Out they went again she sat on them and they were due to pip anyday when the nasty fox came and scared all the chooks and ducks. Everything that was sitting abandoned their nests. I then brought the eggs in and candled them. They were cold but i saw a beak move which was in the air sac but had not pipped the shell yet. I broke all the 6 eggs so they could breathe as they didnt have the strength to do it them selves. On the third day i got two of them out manually. 1 passed away unfortunately. These guys are now day four and out of the incubator and are looking well. There is 4 of them number 5 is still alive but not strong enough yet to come out of the incubator. So the moral of the story is never give up there is always hope if their is a heart beat Oh and the peacock is still alive. He seems to have a sore leg and is limping and much preffer to hang out with us than be in the outside world lol
