These great works fascinate me as an especially unique form of art. It is art in one form (painting) created to be turned into another form of art (photography). The original work of art is temporally restricted in how long it *can* exist, much like a Buddhist sand mandala, but one that *has* to move. And whereas the mandala is meant to be wiped away, out of existence, photography alone is able to preserve the temporary art form for future generations to enjoy.
