These past few mornings have been chilly (for us) and its a reminder that the beekeeping year - as far as tending hives go - is at an end. All honey has been bottled up or put aside for personal use. The extractor has been cleaned; its stainless gleaming and ready for next years crop. I can only dream of velvety honey cascading into 5 gallon buckets. This short video also lends a nice insight into my extraction process. Frames are uncapped, spun, and coarse filtered into buckets so they may be bottled later on. Next year I will be purchasing a larger stainless holding/bottling tank with a dripless nozzle to ease and expedite the entire process. Of course all this costs money, and I am toying with the idea of a crowd funding option through barnraiser. We shall see how kind the winter is.
