These questions are not my original material; only the answers are. I got these questions on a handout from a workshop I attended today at the Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship. ===== Opportunity Discovery Canvas 1. What is the problem being solved? Members of vulnerable and underserved populations dont have access to the massage care they need. 2. Who has this problem? There are a number of underserved populations in Washington state who cant afford massage at market rates of $60/hour or more. 3. How many people have this problem? I am currently researching what the exact numbers are. 4. What other solutions are currently available? Volunteer massage outreach, no-cost health fairs. 5. What is your solution? Continuing education (CE) clinics for Washington-state LMPs (licensed massage practitioners) who need 24 hours of CE every 2 years for license renewal. These clinics will provide: 1) free massage care for vulnerable and underserved populations in Washington state; 2) a means for LMPs to satisfy the state-mandated CE requirements for license renewal. 6. How is your solution different from the others? Because it will be self-funding, it will be more sustainable, and thus more available to people who need it, than are volunteer outreach and fairs, which can happen only when practitioners have time that theyre able to donate. 7. How will you brand your value proposition? LMPs will be part of a global healthcare community that is making a real difference in peoples lives by providing needed high-quality care. 8. How will you get your customers to see your brand? I am currently developing a marketing plan. 9. How can you prove your concept without taking large risks? Proof-of-concept weekend CE clinics in winter and early spring 2015, for the following populations. Locations: Seattle and Eastside, TBA Cost: * No charge at all to clients. * $100 CE charge to student participants. Limit of 8 students per each clinic, to ensure a favorable student:teacher ratio for clinical supervision.
