They answered him, Be quiet! Dont say a word. Come with us, and be our father and priest. Isnt it better that you serve a tribe and clan in Israel as priest rather than just one mans household? Then the priest was glad. He took the ephod, the other household gods and the carved image and went along with the people. - Judges 18:19-20 This Scripture comes from the middle of an interesting story. A man by the name of Micah (not the OT book), had taken in a Levite and essentially claimed him as his own priest. At this point in the story, men from the tribe of Dan came to raid Micahs house and convinced the priest that it would be better to serve the many rather than just a few. Nevermind what Micah had done for this Levite by taking him in. Nevermind asking God what he should do before making a decision. The Levite simply was convinced by the words of the Danites. The new opportunity seemed appealing...something bigger and better. In fact, the Scripture says that the priest was glad, indicating that the decision was not under distress, but that he was actually ready to go. Realizing that I was not there to help this priest make the decision, I wonder what he was thinking. Did he ever consult God before making such a decision? Maybe he was exactly where he was suppose to be? Sometimes we do the exact same thing. We see a better job, a better house, a better car, a better school, a better town, a better church...etc. The truth of the matter is that God may want you to grow right where you are. Notice I said grow and not just stay. He always wants us to move forward, it just may be right where you are!!! In Christ, Bro. Grant
