They are selling the Proud warship Vikrant as scrap. It had played such a stellar role in the Bangladesh war of 1971. Apparently the Govt of Maharashtra found it too much of hassle to maintain it as a museum. What else do you expect from a Govt which does not want to build a National War Memorial as it feels it would be a waste of money to honour soldiers who die for their country. The Former Chief Minister Of Delhi found such a War Memorial an eyesore in Lutyens Delhi and wanted it out at any cost. It just shows the cussed attitude of this govt towards its soldiers and veterans and honouring its martyrs and military memories that are preserved in Military Museums. The Vikrant formed such a perfect museum and a living tribute to the heroes of the 1971 war. They have sold it as SCRAP. The military haters are richer by Rs 60 Cr but they have destroyed a sacred part of our military heritage and memories. The pity is it matters so little.
