They began to remove the mechanics from my body one at a time. But it wasnt fast enough for me. I just wanted it all gone. To sit on a warm towel in my own bathroom. A doctor would come to my bedside. I could see his lips move, but only silence. Slowly ever so, I saw familiar faces, I felt the warmth of the blanket and the soft touch of a hand. Finally they removed the breathing tube, but unlike my mother, after 2 minutes I continued to breath. But did I want to? Those decisions were made for me. Knowing that the circumstance I had somehow survived, my living would never be the same. But I was only human and I knew the world would come to expect so much more of me than that.
