This is unacceptable! Is this what country music has become? A constant advertising platform to get dangerously drunk? Has it totally removed itself from the foundations it was built upon? Wanna know why country music artist charge so much to do a show? Ill spill the beans. A promoter with an attendance of 10000 people can EASILY walk away with $100000 in his pocket. So the booking agents charge more to put a dent in the profits. While the fans are wasted, fighting, or injured and adding more costs to the show ticket such as medical bills, bail, and and such. Same with the industry. Since CD sales are down the executive have to figure out how to continue making MILLIONS at everyone elses costs! Instead of downsizing more and actually LOVING music, they still chase that green paper at any and all costs. Greed and personal self indulgence at its worse. Is that country music? Not where I come from. Go back and read WHY the Ryman is the Church of Country Music. Lets get back to where and why Country music came from. So Im ok now with the many different kinds of country music because there is a bigger issue to address. The CONTEXT of the music needs changed. I understand there has always been drinking and such in it, but seriously look at the top 50 songs in the charts right now and youll see the problem. Even I I wasnt focusing on performing positive music this would still rub me the way it is. Cause this is MY music. Its OUR music. Its AMERICAS music. Is the subject that its singing about really what America is about? If it is, then we really do have some re-evaluating to do no matter what your beliefs, musical taste, or personal preferences are. If youre reading this and in the industry and its pissing you off, GOOD! Maybe you should question why youre doing what your doing. Ill stand up and risk it all to set what I live straight. IN A HEART BEAT!! When we disregard or ignore the effect of the product we are putting out only to be sure we can drive fancy cars and live in big houses, THATS NOT COUNTRY! THATS NOT RIGHT.
