Things I learned from my third Knoxville half marathon... 1. It is SOOOOOO much more fun when you dont take yourself too seriously. (Nathalie, I am much more fun to walk with now.) 2. I am in MUCH better shape now than I was 3 years ago. I did not train one bit (except the yoga and the hours of walking the UT corridors) and still finished in 3:52:06. Even with potty breaks and picture opportunities at every mile marker. 3. Walk with your people. THEY make it an event. Thanks for a great time Bill and Stephanie. 4. The older I get, the less gross a porta potty is. 5. Funny signs are worth every bit of effort people put into them. 6. Glide is my personal savior. 7. The right socks matter. 8. There is ONE time Rocky Top makes me choke up. 9. Finish time is nowhere near as important as taking time to make memories and post them to the Facebook for everyone to enjoy. 10. There is ALWAYS enough energy at the end for a head stand! (11. I still loathe an ice back but good lord it is magic!)
