Things are moving fast so hence the need for two updates today! Radiology had spots open for today/tomorrow for Karsyns g-tube to be switched over to a gj-tube. We decided to jump on it today. They had it done and Karsyn was back in her room in 45 minutes! Everything went well other than having to give her some extra sedation meds to keep her comfortable. The ENT doctors came by today to talk about the tracheostomy. They feel that her infection is under control, her ventilator settings are trending down, and that she is good to go on the tracheostomy. They initially told us it would be 7 days, maybe sooner, to perform the surgery and there is also a 5-7 day healing process. So we were thinking nearly two weeks before Karsyn will be ready to rehabilitate. The ICU doctor came by shortly ago to let us know that they might be able to get in her in tomorrow at noon for the tracheostomy!
