Things dey hpen for Dubai now oh; A gardener is accused of luring a 12-year-old boy from a mosque to a nearby flat and raping him at knifepoint. The 37-year-old Bangladeshi appeared at Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday, where he denied charges of kidnap and rape. Prosecutors have asked for the death penalty if he is convicted. The incident happened in February, according to court records, when the Pakistani boy was praying at a mosque near his home in Al Rashidiya. The court was told he met the defendant, who started chatting to him. The boy said: “He told me he had some toys to show me, but I refused to go with him.” The defendant allegedly grabbed the boy and dragged him to a nearby building, telling him not to say a word. “I couldn’t stop him,” the boy said. “He pushed me into a room and raised a knife in front of my face and told me to take off my clothes or he would kill me.” Prosecutors claim the defendant then raped him twice. The boy says he eventually escaped through the bathroom window. Prosecutors say DNA evidence shows he was raped by the defendant. In a separate case, a 48-year-old man from the Comoros Islands has gone on trial accused of molesting a 17-year-old Emirati boy who has Down’s syndrome. The pair are related and the abuse allegedly happened at the family home. Both cases have been adjourned.
