Things we can do to gain Allah’s pleasure: 1►•— Be grateful Allah says: ► It ye reject (Allah), truly Allah hath no need of you; but He liketh not ingratitude from His servants: if ye are grateful, He is pleased with you. No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. In the End to your, Lord is your Return, when He will tell you the truth of all that ye did (in this life). For He knoweth well all that is in (mens) hearts. sura AZ ZUMAR chapter 39 verse 7 2►•— Always speak the truth Allah says: ► Allah will say: This is a day on which the truthful will profit from their truth: theirs are Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,― their eternal home: Allah well-pleased with them and they with Allah: that is the great Salvation (the fulfillmentof all desires). sura AL MAEDA chapter 5 verse 119 3►•— Be good to our parents Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said: “Allah’s being pleased is in the parent’s pleasure, and His displeasure is in the parent’s displeasure.” (Tirmidhi) 4►•— Be pleased with Allah’s decree Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said: “Whoever is pleased, He will be pleased with him; and whoever is displeased, His displeasure will be upon him.” (Tirmidhi) 5•— Have firm Faith (Iman) and strive to be obedient to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتعال ). Work alone is not sufficient to earn Allah’s pleasure. Work needs to be accompanied by true belief and faith in Allah. Allah says: ► Come back thou to thy Lord well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him! sura AL FAJR chapter 89 verse 28 Allah says: ► Those who have faith and do righteous deeds― they are the best of creatures. Their reward is with Allah: Gardens of Eternity beneath which rivers flow; They will dwell therein for ever; Allah well pleased with them, and they with Him: all this for such as fear their Lord and Cherisher. sura AL BAYYINA chapter 98 verse 7-8 Always be mindful of your intentions and never judge an individual based upon their acts of obedience or disobedience to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتعال ). We should not make judgements in matters of the unseen and only Allah alone has knowledge of everything and He is the best judge. All we can do is hope for the person whom we see performing good deeds and obeying Allah that Allah is pleased with him & fear for the person whom we see committing evil deeds and acts disobedience that he is earning Allah’s displeasure. A person may do what appears to the people to be good, but he may face an evil end. In this case Allah is not pleased with him. Another person may do what appears to the people to be evil, but he may face a good end. Then Allah will be pleased with him. Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said: “By Him besides whom there is no god, one of you will act like the people of Paradise until between him and Paradise there remains but the distance of a cubit, when what is written overtakes him and he begins to act like the denizens of Hell and thus enters Hell. And another amongst will act in the way of the denizens of Hell, until there remains between him and Hell a distance of a cubit, then what is written overtakes him and then he begins to act like the people of Paradise and enters Paradise.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim) We seek refuge from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتعال ) from His wrath and ask Him to guide us and make us among those who please Him and are close to Him,
