Thinking about my Momma today and how much I miss her. When she passed away, this is what I wrote down for the preacher. Yes, my Mom was a wonderful lady She cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake. She sewed and was the Queen of Laundry. She liked to wear the color red, because Russell (her husband) thought she looked great in it, and she did! She loved to get her hair done, wore makeup, did her nails, and wore earrings and necklaces and the perfume ESTEE. People always complimented her on how nice she smelled. She wore rain hats, (she always had one in her purse). She taught us to always take a sweater (And I do to this day) She saved bows off of presents and reused them. In her cupboards you’d always find folded up foil that she’d washed off to reuse and bread pokes she’d rinsed out. (She was very thrifty). She loved ice cream, potato chips, Reese peanut butter cups, butterscotch hard tack, chewing gum, Russell Stover candy and corn on the cob. She loved dogs. She let us have horses at our house, even inside for 2 days at Christmas. She loved to feed our horse chewing gum, until it bit her. She couldn’t drive, but she always knew the way. She would take the bus to downtown Steubenville. She loved to plant flowers. She was always rearranging her furniture. She didn’t like her newspaper messed up before she read it and she didn’t like cussing. She went to church and sent her kids to Sunday School too. Many years she was on a bowling league. She was a worrier. She would laugh until she cried. She loved! She protected her children. She played cards and Chinese checkers with the grandkids. She loved her grandkids! She liked to feed the birds stale bread. She made homemade noodles. She liked to shop.
