Thinking about the impending sale of the building that houses - TopicsExpress

Thinking about the impending sale of the building that houses Nashvilles RCA Studio A: How often is the primary preservation concern whats INSIDE a building? The recent demolition of a nearby 19th-century Victorian house, for instance, was more about keeping the outside of the building. If someone had bought it and gutted it but preserved the facade, few, if any, people would have been upset. But the Studio A situation seems completely different. Would anybody really care if developers altogether changed the appearance of the building (which, even as a kid, I thought was kind of ugly) and took the structure up, say, 10 stories while keeping the innards of Studio A intact? That would seem to me like a very attractive selling point for condominiums that would still fit within the distinctive scope of the area.
