Thinking of some new, recently- acquired skills: Smashing huge, scurrying cockroaches with the first hit of a sandal... While keeping the blood and guts ON the tile and OFF OF the grout; Texting while riding on a very bumpy Haitian road, with only 2-3 typos per message and only embarrassing myself with an unintended word 1 out of every 9-10 times; Making people think I know Kreyol with a few well- placed Kreol words and a lot of nodding and smiling; Not rolling off five stacked mattresses while sleeping; Finding lots of things in the dark! Who wouldve known that I would find these skills so valuable?
