Third time lucky for Triangle ift.tt/Z6kcU3 THE ELEPHANT… Triangle coach Biggie “Nzou” Zuze is lifted sky high by his players after the team beat Dynamos in the One Wallet Cup final at the National Sports Stadium yesterday. – Picture by Munyaradzi Chamalimba Augustine Hwata Sports Reporter TRIANGLE’S 4-3 victory over Dynamos in the One Wallet Cup final yesterday was remarkably the third time in as many matches from this football tournament that the Lowveld side had secured another win after the lottery shoot-out. Biggie Zuze’s side made a mockery of the form book when they lifted their first piece of silverware in the Premiership by dismissing the Harare giants DeMbare in a match that failed to rise to the anticipated levels at the National Sports Stadium. Bustling striker Felix “Mbesuma” Kuswatuka gave Triangle the lead in the 19th minute but Roderick Mutuma evened the scores in the 40th minute. The match remained deadlocked after the extra-time and it had to be decided on penalties, where Tafadzwa Rusike’s miss for Dynamos was the turning point. Dynamos skipper Thomas Magorimbo also sent his effort wide while Triangle converted all their efforts to win their third OneWallet match through the penalties. In the quarter-final at Mandava, Triangle beat Harare City 7-6 on penalties after the match had finished tied at one-all. Triangle also edged Chicken Inn 5-3 on penalties in the semi-finals and their victory over Dynamos yesterday made it sweeter for the Sugar Boys. In getting his goal, Kuswatuka reacted faster on the spill by young Dynamos goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva, who was standing in for the injured Artwell Mukandi. After getting the goal, Triangle got into the groove although both teams never took the game to the expected levels in terms of entertainment value, save for a few moments of brilliance by Ronald Chitiyo and Tafadzwa Rusike for Dynamos. Cabby Kamhapa, who was voted man-of-the-match, also had a decent game but it was Mbesuma’s goal which forced Dynamos to chase the game for some part of the match. “That goal came early into the game and it got us into the game. We should have increased the advantage but along the way we conceded an easy goal,” said Kuswatuka. Kuswatuka said the second yellow card earned by Jimmy Dzingai in the 71st minute following a foul on Blessing Moyo made life difficult for the Sugar Boys. “We had to be cautious after going down to 10-man. But deep down in my heart, I had a feeling that I was going to score because I had been working hard at training,” said Kuswatuka. A former Gunners and Blue Ribbon forward Kuswatuka said Triangle now need to cut their celebrations short and focus on their Premiership status which is under threat. “It’s the first time we have won this cup and it means a lot for our club and the fans. The icing on the cake is that we beat Dynamos in Harare but we have to remain focused and try to play well in the league because our position is not safe,” said Kuswatuka.
