This Day in History - February 25th, 1841: An innovative artist, Pierre-Auguste Renoir was born on February 25, 1841, in Limoges, France. He started out as an apprentice to a porcelain painter and studied drawing in his free time. After years as a struggling painter, Renoir helped launch an artistic movement called Impressionism in 1870s. He eventually became one of the most highly regarded artists of his time. He died in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France, in 1919. --Bio. 1917: Anthony Burgess was an English novelist, poet, playwright and composer born on February 25, 1917, in Manchester, England. In total, he wrote 33 novels, 25 non-fiction pieces, three symphonies, over 150 other musical works and other works. Well known novels included The Wanting Seed, Inside Mr. Enderby, Earthly Powers and A Clockwork Orange, the latter of which was adapted into a popular 1971 Stanley Kubrik film. Burgess died on November 22, 1993 in London. --Bio. 1975: Chelsea Handler was born in Livingston, New Jersey. With her late-night talk show, Chelsea Lately, Chelsea Handler became one of the most-watched women in comedy...With her first book, My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands (2005), made her way on to the best-sellers list...In addition to her show, Handler has continued to write books and tour with a stand-up act.
