This Facebook group has gotten quite large recently (heading quickly towards 12000 members), but I just wonder how many of the members of this group actually know what BirdLife South Africa is all about other than just a Facebook page where you can share your photos. It is an organisation that needs all of our support to help work towards conserving the wonderful birdlife and habitats that South Africa has to offer. They do fantastic work to conserve the birds that all the members of this group obviously love. So, lets hear from all of the members of this FB group... how many of you are actually members of BirdLife South Africa, the conservation organisation? A simple yes or no in the comments below will suffice. And if you are not a member, but are interested in joining to do your part towards conserving our countrys birds, feel free to say so in the comments too. If BLSA is to be seen as a successful conservation organisation (which they already are!) by government and the big corporates, they need to have as big a membership base as possible, so that they are speaking or acting on behalf of a lot more people. Already, this FB group is probably heading towards twice as many members as the organisation has.... which is rather sad...:( So here is a challenge for all the members of this group. Lets see if we can get all 11663 current members of this FB group joined up as members of the organisation...?! I think that would be a wonderful step in the right direction for conservation in this country. So, go on, sign up as a member of BirdLife SA, I dare you... in fact, I double dare you...:D
