This Messenger debate Is pissing me off. Google the Facebook Messenger Mandate... you know there is a workaround for Android users... If you so choose. Do your research on the version updates. And uninstall both Messenger and FB.... then install a server hosted APK of the older versions. Shut down auto update for Google Play apps. And there you go. No more messenger mandate.... however. Messenger isnt that bad. People are taking the permissions terms literally and out of context for the microphone and camera... you realize Google and or Apple requires the SAME permissions for various applications such as Skype, Voice to Text, and even the Camera apps? Anything that requires your voluntary use of the phones peripherals through an application.... will mandate a permissions inventory. For example if you denied permissions for the mic and Camera... your snapshot and voice features would cease to function on the phone... they dont run in the background literally. The scripts run in the background when you activate or utilize a feature. Think about it. For Messenger to use your microphone or camera constantly... and supposedly feed information back to whomever (FB in this instance)..... it would MURDER your phone battery and data plan. So people please shut up about Messenger.
