This Sunday Im preaching about self-denial and the imperative and absolute must to take up our cross daily and follow Christ. Lately Ive been thinking where Ive been and looking at the man in the mirror. Im looking over my 47 years of life and realize that I can not be satisfied with those things that makes me comfortable. To deny ourselves seems absurd especially after you have spent years trying to put yourself together from being broken, abandoned, molested, labeled, hurt, insulted, assaulted, criticized, laughed at, written off, used, exploited, and so forth. And after finally getting yourself in a position to cope with life despite the dysfunction, we still must deny ourselves (wants, desires, personal plans, and yes needs) to follow Christ and preach and live His Word. When it comes down to it, its about Christ and not about us. His will over ours. Selah. Derrick
