This Thanksgiving Day (haunting eyes) Gravitating into hopelessness Broken under by man’s unconcern Burning hard rain falling from the sky In the distance starving faces ask why Infants dying as their being born Can’t comprehend what we’re doing wrong Royalty gets fat from poor soul’s fate I can’t eat now take away that plate This thanksgiving day Nightmares of such innocent’s true pain Cuts my identity and my name With a dazed and glazed look in their eyes Mothers must watch as their children die Swollen bellies and skin stretched too tight I hear children’s sigh this darkest night Suspended now in life’s misery Hungry eyes reach out and plead to me This thanksgiving day Children staring back too sick to cry Such horror in those round hollow eyes I hear the quiet sound of millions Insanity too many children Those haunting eyes i can hear them say Help don’t let your children die this way We’ve done nothing we are only here Silently suffering beyond fear This thanksgiving day Time is now there s no time to wait Many people have been hypnotized By politicians who keep telling lies By robed vendors selling packaged faith By fear groups that keep on preaching hate Insects on faces too weak to brush away I hang my head and i weep in shame This thanksgiving day Copyright 2013 Dennis John Ferado My first book can be ordered through my publisher soulasylumpoetry or on Amazon or Barnes & Noble or if someone would like a signed copy they can message me.
