This Tuesday, November 5, the citizens of the Commonwealth Of Virginia will be making a decision regarding the future of our state, and the futures of our children. I consider myself an American first...a Constitutionalist. It is not about Party or person but about whats best for our home, our state and our country. After carefully analyzing each of our three choices for Governor, the decision was pretty simple to me. It is funny how, in this particular situation this year, it actually has a lot to do with our country and its current leadership. As a Barrack Obama clone, and former head of the Democratic National Committee, Terry McCauliffe has stood lock-step with the Obama administration on nearly every single issue inportant to me, almost every single one. With no elected office track record with which to evaluate him, one simply need to take a look at an elected track record that he has stood by over and over and over again. Its simple...If you think the Obama administrations work on healthcare, joblessness, the economy, national security, transparency, ethics and morals, upholding the Consitution, etc. have been excellent, and you think Virginia should head in that same direction, then Terry McCauliffe is your man. If you think that is the wrong direction, then Ken Cuccinelli is your candidate. I dont believe you could find more total opposite individuals with such opposing political viewpoints. Experience is another area that is important to me. Over the past 5 years, we have experienced a President with absolutely no qualifications for that office and seen a 5-year track record, that Mr. McCauliffe stands beside every step of the way, and to me, we have seen how no experience has led to failure. If you dont think experience is necessary for the job of Governor, then McCauliffe or Sarvis are your choices. While I am currently disheartened with the overall direction of BOTH of our political parties in America, and in Virginia, a decision must be made. To not stand up and speak up is to accept defeat and helplessness. I find that repulsive, a hinderance and bad for business. On Tuesday, I will be voting for Ken Cuccinelli, a man who ha provided leadership in his elected roles throught his service to the Commonwealth. He has not been afraid to take courageous stances on issues and at times, I have disagreed, but at least he has taken a stand. His committment to family, to justice and to our state are why he has earned my vote. As you have seen attack ad after attack ad by both candidates, I am sure that you too have found it difficult to make a decision because neither side was telling me why I should vote for them, but rather, why I should NOT vote for the other. I found this frustrating and would encourage candidates in the future to see the terrible impact these ads have on the process. No one is perfect, and I have never agreed with any candidate in my lifetime on every issue, but I believe that my vote is sacred, and I believe the overall stance of a candidate is far more important than their stance on one issue alone, especially when that is an issue that the candidate, if elected, will not even have the chance to act on, except in rare cases. Tuesday, make a decision regarding the future of this Commonwealth that is based on your own personal values, your own personal imperatives and the direction you would like to see our state, and country to be heading. Speak up or shut up. The choice is yours. I encourage you to vote, no matter what candidate you are for. And please pray for our elected officials as well. Lord knows they could use it!
