This afternoon I have taught a lesson with one of my pupils who is working on an introductory exam. As part of this she has to play five exercises to be selected from ten contained within the syllabus book. Although these are simple exercises, they are designed to introduce pupils to various musical elements, such as dynamics and expression (louds and softs). She has also now started work on three of the pieces, from which she has to select. In order to finish the lesson in more of a fun way, we played some duets, which are useful for developing listening skills.
