This afternoon, I was sitting in my car after my quick trip into Shoppers Drug Mart for some essentials. I had my window down to enjoy the breeze...such a lovely day. I was putting on my seat belt and re-bagging my items to reduce the number of bags to carry into the house when I got home. A man about 40ish walked to the entrance of the store with a large cup of Tim Hortons coffee and very deliberately dropped a large piece of transparent plastic on the sidewalk at his feet, perhaps packaging of some kind. I sat there, disgusted, pondering this. He paced back and forth within several feet...numerous times stepping ON the garbage that he had tossed on the ground. I sat there..waiting for him to bend over and pick ity up...I gave him four minutes. Okay, so shoot me! I yelled at him from my car across the driving lane...There is a litter box very close to you. Pick up that garbage and put it where it belongs. That is just IGNORANT! SHAME on you! You are old enough to know better! Before I was even done, he was apologizing and picked it up (yes, right at his feet). He refused to look at me. I waited until he put the garbage into the garbage container. An older man was sitting on a bench against that same store...he looked at me and gave me that GOOD FOR YOU nod and I nodded back to him. The man in question, the litterer, was nicely dressed...how ignorant are some people! He knew the minute I started just WHY I was yelling at him. Do YOU speak up?
