This afternoon Im down at the Monroe County Public Library for a Meet the Democratic Candidates event. The session is being recorded for broadcast on CATS throughout the campaign season, but heres a sneak peek at my prepared remarks: Hi, I’m Shelli Yoder. I am running to continue serving District 1 on the Monroe County Council because I value efficient, transparent, and effective government and responsible fiscal management of our county’s resources. I am committed to the following priorities: maintaining and improving the safety of our county; protecting our 911 dispatch; funding our roads and bridges; and, creating and making accessible sidewalks and trails for District 1. Additionally, I will continue efforts to bring high-quality, fair-wage jobs to our county, and I will continue to seek solutions to address those in our county facing poverty and homelessness. My past 20-plus years as a non-profit executive director and a retail sales manager have taught me the important skills of budget forecasting, resource allocation, and fiscal oversight. In 2008, I was recognized for my outstanding non-profit leadership by the Nashville, Tennessee business community. In my current position on the faculty of the Kelley School of Business I teach the importance of matching values and interests with resource allocation and doing so responsibly and transparently. In 2013, I was recognized as the Emerging Leader by the city of Bloomington. Alongside my professional experience, I also have a Master of Science degree in education from IU and a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University. I live in Park Ridge East with my husband, Josh Perry, and we have three kids who attend University Elementary School. We are all active in the Danny Smith Park Little League program in Unionville, and I serve on several boards including the Bloomington Rotary Club and the Bloomington Economic Development Commission. I hope you will reach out to find out more. You can contact or connect with me via my website (shelliyoderformonroecounty), Facebook (Shelli Yoder for Monroe County) or Twitter @YoderForMonroe. I want to thank CATS for making the recording of this video possible, the Monroe County Public Library for providing the space, the Monroe County Democratic Party for putting this forum together, and to you for watching and listening in order to be informed and engaged in your community. I am Shelli Yoder. I am running for re-election to the County Council because I am committed to efficient, transparent, and effective government, as well as responsible fiscal management of our county’s resources. I am qualified and experienced, and I ask for your vote on November 4. Thank you.
