This article, (if the link works), is about Celiac Disease, which has been on the rise for 50 years. In fact, it is 5 times more prevalent than it was 50 years ago. It can be a devastating disease and can strike at any age. The list of symptoms is astounding! I suffered with a similar disorder, Irritable Bowel Disorder, for about 4 years and in seeking a cure was pointed toward the book- Eat for your blood type, by Dr. Peter DAdamo. Being an O negative Blood Type, many common foods like corn, wheat, peanuts, legumes, etc were excluded from an O negative diet profile. And my diet was FULL of the exact thing that was making my life so uncomfortable! Pinto beans, corn bread, corn on the cob, peanut butter, wheat in everything, and on and on. Basically, a Southern Diet I had inherited from my ancestors. Within days of removing these items from my diet I felt better, and within a month I felt like I was totally cured of IBS with zero symptoms remaining. Then, several years later, i started presenting with slurred speech, which was eventually diagnosed as ALS. And, in doing research for an alternative cure, or at least something to treat this terrible disease, because modern science and medicine has nothing, I ran across the Deanna Protocol, developed by Dr. Vince Tedone for his daughter Deanna, also diagnosed with Bulbar ALS. Dr. Tedones research at Harvard revealed what he believed was the process by which the disease destroys the muscle neurons in the brain. This process essentially cuts off nourishment to the neurons causing them to die, by not being able to use glucose as the fuel and food because of a problem with the body being able to properly use insulin. In his research he also identified foods which either help or hinder the disease in its goal to eat your brain. When this is going on inside your body, you begin to pay attention to what youre putting in your mouth! Again, grains were excluded in the Protocol and there is a very long explanation for this, but essentially, gluten and glutamates are poison to people with ALS. Ive also suffered from severe inflammation in various parts of my body, including my joints and back, stomach, etc, and when I first went on the O-Type diet these mostly went away. Now that Im on the Deanna Protocol with almost zero gluten and glutamate ingestion, I essentially have none of the inflammation I had in my 30s-50s. So, what are my conclusions to real life health problems and their solutions like mine? It really does matter what you eat! And grains, corn, rice, legumes, all processed foods, high amounts of sugar, etc are probably the cause of the majority of your illnesses, your being overweight, your migraines, your depression, your hormonal problems, and on and on. The simple reason that you need to learn about foods and disease? First, the food at the grocery store today is NOT the food that our parents and grandparents bought and ate and that you began your life on if you are on your 60s to 70s. But about 50 years ago, all that began to change and it hasnt stopped. We are an experiment and we have ben a fast buck for the food industry. The sweet little Elves and the Pillsbury Doughboy are not the cute, harmless icons taht they are presented as being. They are there distract you and to hide the mobsters and monsters that are the Corporate American Food Industry. If you read the article, I recommend that you especially read the comments section.
